JEE, NEET Exam Date Updates HIGHLIGHTS: Answering queries of students, parents and teachers Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal during his live address made several announcements. He said that not only there is a possibility of postponing the exams, in case the situation does not improve, he also suggested further syllabus cut based on the situation.

He said that in case schools continue to be shut, there will be an alternative mode of assessment instead of the CBSE class 10 and 12 practical board exams. He also said that there is no mandate that the exams will be held in March and a postponement and further delay can be considered based on the situation. He, however, did not give any definite date. He said that dates will set considering no clash between exams and that students have enough time to prepare for all of them. Assuring students he said, “we are with you”.

He has also asked National Testing Agency (NTA) to discuss with state and central boards and finalise on syllabus cut if required. Answering a question he said, a 10-20 per cent syllabus cut can be considered but there is no definite decision yet. The decision will be made after proper consideration, he said. Multiple attempts for JEE and NEET will also be considered, said Pokhriyal.

Pokhriyal on CBSE, board exams

Responding to a question on the CBSE board exams, Ramesh Pokhriyal said, "We will ensure you get enough time to prepare based on the new format. We are with you.” He said that the dates will be announced for CBSE board exams only after assessing the situation and the norm of holding exams in March is not mandatory. Pokhriyal further added that the practical exams dates will not clash with the entrance examination.

No plan to cancel NEET: Pokhriyal

Amid speculations whether medical entrance exam- NEET will be held this year, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said today that there is no plan to cancel the entrance exam.

NEET to be held online/ offline?

Considering the pandemic situations, whether NEET will be held online/ offline, Pokhroyal said, 'we will find best solution for the students.' The medical entrance exam is being conducted in offline mode.

Mulling to increase number of attempts for JEE: Pokhriyal

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that it's under consideration to increase the number of attempts for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). 'We are considering to increase the number of attempts for JEE from two to three or four following the suggestions received.'

Pokhriyal students interaction HIGHLIGHTS: Apart from the board exam dates, there has been a constant demand for syllabus cuts as well. Earlier, the minister had said that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will decide on the syllabus after assessing the situation with several boards.
