Mumbai: ED summons Sena’s Yashwant Jadhav in FEMA violation case

Income Tax officials had provisionally attached a flat belonging to the Jadhavs in Bandra and nearly 40 properties linked to him on charges of tax evasion earlier this year. I-T officials had also summoned Jadhav’s brother-in-law and nephew to record their statements but they did not turn up before the agency.

Jadhav had allegedly purchased tenancy rights of 25 flats in Balakadi chambers after paying those tenants in cash. These flats were then registered in the name of Newshawk multimedia through his nephew Vinit, it is further alleged.

It is a transaction to one of the owners, who is based abroad, which is under cloud as the agency is probing if hawala channels were used to make the payment.

Reacting to the summons issued to Jadhav, Sena leader Sanjay Raut said the agency will start sending notices to all the people in Maharashtra.
