Raghav Chadha calls Sidhu ‘Rakhi Sawant of Punjab politics’, latter hits back with ape comment

Raghav Chadha's response on Twitter came soon after Navjot Sidhu tweeted that the Delhi government had notified one of the three farm laws that allows farmers to sell outside mandis and demanded to know from Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal if the law had been de-notified.

Punjab AAP co-incharge and Delhi MLA Raghav Chadha took a swipe at Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday by terming him the “Rakhi Sawant of Punjab politics”.

His reaction came after the cricketer-turned-politician attacked the Delhi government on Twitter for its “masquerade” over the contentious agriculture laws passed by the Centre.

Sidhu tweeted that the Delhi government had notified one of the three agriculture laws (in December last year) that allows farmers to sell outside mandis and demanded to know from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal if the law had been de-notified.

“The Rakhi Sawant of Punjab politics-Navjot Singh Sidhu-has received a scolding from Congress High Command for non-stop ranting against Capt. Therefore today, he went after Arvind Kejriwal. Wait till tomorrow for he shall resume his diatribe against Capt with vehemence,” tweeted Chadha.

Navjot Sidhu soon hit back at Chadha with another tweet saying, “They say man descended from the apes and the monkeys, Looking at your mind @raghav_chadha I believe you are still descending! You still haven’t answered my question about notifying the Farm Laws by your Government.”

Chadha also drew the ire of a section of the Twitterati for dragging Rakhi Sawant’s name into the political exchange. His comment was termed “sexist” and “misogynist” by some commentators. Alka Lamba, once associated with AAP and now with the Congress, tweeted that Chadha’s comments showed the mentality of AAP towards women and equated it with RSS’s thinking. Lamba called the AAP legislator a “Sanghi Chadha”.

Festive offer

Today is the first anniversary of the three agriculture laws that were passed by Parliament and against which farmers have been protesting.
