There is an organised campaign running online to portray the Dravidian model of governance as one against spirituality and belief, said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday.

Hitting out at right-wing Hindutva forces, Stalin further said those who use religion and faith to further their own vested political interests are spreading such disinformation online.

“Dravidian model is not against spirituality or belief but is opposed to those who use these to further their political agenda based on hatred,” he said,

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief cautioned that his words will be distorted by vicious groups online to portray DMK in the dark.

Stalin’s speech about the necessity to bust such “big lies from vicious communal groups online” was at the launch of the celebrations to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Ramalinga Adigal or Vallalar, a prominent Tamil saint, also considered to be one of the greatest Tamil poets who lived in the 19th century.

Festive offer

He further said that Hindu, Religious, and Charitable Endowments (HR & CE) department minister Sekar Babu visits temples more than he visits the state Secretariat at Fort St. George.

As promised in poll manifesto, Stalin said, his government had started the work for Vallalar International Centre at the cost of Rs 100 crore at Vadalur.
