With 10 days to go for the Supertech towers’ demolition, the Noida Authority Thursday convened a meeting to discuss steps to bring down the two buildings safely on August 28 and the ‘evacuation plan for the exclusion zone’.

The road bordering Emerald Court in the north; service road on Noida Expressway which goes towards Delhi in the south; the road between ATS Village and Parsvnath Srishti apartments in the east; and a park in Sector 93A adjoining the flyover in the west comes under the exclusion zone vis-a-vis the demolition site. Certain directions were given by the Authority in the meeting such as:

* Residents of Supertech Emerald Court and ATS Village will be required to evacuate their flats by 7 am on August 28

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Noida Authority, representatives of Edifice Engineering and Supertech Ltd., as well as officials from Noida Police, fire department, traffic police department and Resident Welfare Associations of Emerald Court and ATS Village apartments.

The Supreme Court on August 12 had fixed the demolition for August 28, granting a bandwidth of seven days between August 29 and September 4 to take into account any marginal delay due to technical reasons or weather conditions, as requested by Noida Authority.

Meanwhile, officials at Edifice Engineering — the firm in charge of the process — said it is achieving over 12% of its daily scheduled charging targets. “We are presently achieving between 12%-15% of our daily scheduled charging targets. The process of charging the building will likely be achieved by August 23,” said Mayur Mehta, project manager of the demolition. He also said the structural analysis report of certain towers in Emerald Court and ATS Village, which lie in the vicinity of the demolition site, was submitted to CBRI on August 13.

Additionally, the process of covering affected buildings/towers in Supertech Emerald Court and ATS Village apartments, with ‘non-woven geo-textile material’ will be completed on or before August 28, Mehta added.

According to sources, strengthening and repair of roughly 43-52 columns in the affected towers is ongoing and repairs will be completed by August 25.
