The Tigers are back. And so are the tears. Bangladesh add colour to a tournament and bring frenetic emotions and it didn't take long for their fans and players, who wear them emotions on their red-trimmed green sleeves, to liven up the atmosphere in the baby-battle of the subcontinent, ahead of the Big Daddy clash. Bangladesh fans raised a din in the tournament which until now was played mostly in front of quiet, empty stands. Even before the first ball was bowled in their match against Sri Lanka, the stuffed tigers were out in force in the stands: as hats, on t-shirts and simply as toys. On the field, the first drops of tears were shed during the anthem after Mahmudullah got emotional when the anthems were played. It's too early to say how far Bangladesh will go into the tournament but one thing is sure: till the time they are there, they'll make the desert colourful.
Karunaratne gets the big wicket of Shakib! The left-hander was looking good but is clean bowled. What a delivery to hit to top of leg stump, and Al Hasan is gone for 10. BAN- 56/2 in 7.4 overs
OUT! Liton Das gets caught at mid-off and Lahiru Kumara gets the wicket. The two players then get into a heated argument and are separated by the umpires and other players. That did not look good. BAN - 41/1 after 6 ovs
FOUR! A slow delivery by D Chameera, short and wide. L Das directs it behind point for a boundary. 5 overs gone! Liton Das 15*, Mohammad Naim 21* | BAN- 38/0
Two no balls in a row for Chameera, he went for a boundary with the second one. 12 runs off the over. Sri Lanka can't afford that today!! BAN- 21/0 after 3 ovs
Liton Das has surpassed 15 in just three of his 11 T20I innings this year, with his 29 against PNG the only time he has done so at this event.
Anthems are done, the players did not take the knee and out come Mohammad Naim Sheikh and Liton Das to start proceedings for Bangladesh, and Chamika Karunaratne takes the first over for Sri Lanka. LET'S PLAY!
Sri Lanka have brought in the extra pacer today in Theekshana's absence whereas Bangladesh have decided to bring a spinner in for pacer Taskin Ahmed, two very differing assessments of today's Sharjah pitch. Theekshana was Sri Lanka’s most effective bowler during the 1st Round of the #T20WorldCup, registering an Average Bowling Impact of +18.9. His absence will be a big blow to Sri Lanka’s chances today.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have met 6 times in T20 cricket since the last T20 WorldCup in 2016, splitting those games with 3 wins apiece. This should be a competitive contest.

We would have batted first. We need to adapt to the conditions that we are going to face. Hopefully it'll be a good one to bat on. Bit of a relief after the first loss. The boys are relaxed and quite free now, hopefully we can come out here and be disciplined. Taskin is not playing. Nasum Ahmed comes in.
"We are going to bowl first. Our bowlers are doing a good job for us. After the IPL, the wicket is up-and-down, can't guess what it is, that's why we want to bowl. The environment has been really good, we are in a very good mood. The youngsters are doing a good job and they are very confident as well. We have an injury concern. Maheesh Theekshana is out. Binura Fernando comes back in."
Sri Lanka have won the toss and decided to bowl first.
For Bangladesh, the T20 World Cup has not been a happy hunting ground. After their success in the inaugural edition in 2007, when they made it to Super 8s, the Tigers failed to register a single win in the 2009, 2010 and 2012 editions.
